Keeping Score! supports AirPlay with a purpose-built TV experience — it’s a dedicated leaderboard display, not just a mirror of your phone screen.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Connect your iPhone or iPad to an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible display
- The app automatically detects the external screen
- A dedicated TV leaderboard appears on the big screen
- Continue scoring on your device while everyone watches the leaderboard
TV Display Features
Section titled “TV Display Features”Dark Theme
Section titled “Dark Theme”The TV display uses a dark background with large, easy-to-read fonts — designed to be viewed from across the room.
Responsive Layout
Section titled “Responsive Layout”The layout adapts based on the number of players:

Winner Celebration
Section titled “Winner Celebration”When a game finishes, the TV display shows:
- Gold gradient text for the winner’s name
- Trophy icon
- Wiggle animation
- Large-scale confetti (180 particles)
Persistent Display
Section titled “Persistent Display”The leaderboard stays visible on the TV even when you navigate to other screens on your phone. Scores update in real-time as you enter them.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Any AirPlay-compatible receiver (Apple TV, AirPlay-compatible smart TV, Mac)
- iPhone or iPad running iOS 18+
Connection
Section titled “Connection”- Open Control Center on your device
- Tap Screen Mirroring
- Select your AirPlay display
- The app automatically switches to the dedicated TV leaderboard
No configuration needed in the app — external display detection is automatic.
- The TV display uses fixed-size fonts (not Dynamic Type) since external displays don’t have accessibility settings
- The leaderboard updates in real-time as you score on your phone
- Works great for party games, family game nights, and tournaments where everyone needs to see the scores
- The display automatically adapts if players are eliminated or added mid-game

Do I need an Apple TV?
Section titled “Do I need an Apple TV?”No. Keeping Score! works with any AirPlay-compatible receiver, including AirPlay-enabled smart TVs and Macs.
Does it just mirror my phone screen?
Section titled “Does it just mirror my phone screen?”No. The TV gets a dedicated, purpose-built leaderboard that’s optimized for large displays — dark theme, large fonts, and responsive layout. Your phone continues to show the normal scoring interface.
What if I have more than 12 players?
Section titled “What if I have more than 12 players?”The TV display shows the top 11 players with a “+N” indicator for the remaining players. Everyone’s scores are still tracked; the TV just shows the leaders.
