Keeping Score! plays sound effects for game events — score changes, round endings, game completions, and timer alerts. Every sound is customizable.

The app triggers sounds for five different events:

EventWhen It PlaysDefault Sound
Score ChangeA score is updatedTink
Game CompleteA game is finishedPayment Success
Round EndA round is endedShort Double High
Timer TickCountdown timer tickingTock
Timer ExpiredTimer reaches zeroRadar

Short, subtle sounds for frequent events:

  • Tink, Tock, Payment Success, Short Double High, Long Low Short High

Longer, more noticeable sounds for important events:

  • Radar, Beacon, Bulletin, Chord, Constellation, Cosmic, Illuminate, Playtime, Presto, Radiate, Ripples, Silk, Slow Rise, Summit, Twinkle

Not all sounds are available for every event:

EventUI SoundsAlarm Tones
Score ChangeAll 5
Timer TickAll 5
Round EndAll 5Presto, Ripples, Twinkle
Game CompleteAll 5All 15
Timer ExpiredAll 5All 15

For each event, you can:

  • Enable or disable the sound independently
  • Choose a sound from the available options
  • Import a custom sound (up to 30 seconds duration)

Access sound settings from the app’s settings menu.

When audio is unavailable (e.g., device on silent mode), the app falls back to haptic feedback so you still get tactile confirmation of events.

  • The timer tick uses a debounce of 0.9 seconds to avoid overwhelming sound during fast countdowns
  • Custom sounds can be any audio file up to 30 seconds — good for personalized alarms
  • Disable score change sounds during fast-paced games if the constant feedback gets distracting
  • Use a distinctive alarm tone for Timer Expired so it stands out during noisy game sessions

The app falls back to haptic feedback, so you still get tactile confirmation of events without audio.
