Getting Started

Section titled “Is Keeping Score! free?”Yes. Completely free with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions.
What devices does it support?
Section titled “What devices does it support?”iPhone and iPad running iOS 18.0 or later.
Does it sync across devices?
Section titled “Does it sync across devices?”Yes. Games, players, and personas sync automatically via iCloud. No setup needed beyond having iCloud enabled.
How many languages does it support?
Section titled “How many languages does it support?”33 languages, including 3 right-to-left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian).
Is there an Android version?
Section titled “Is there an Android version?”No. Keeping Score! is built exclusively with Apple frameworks and is only available on iOS.
Do I need an internet connection?
Section titled “Do I need an internet connection?”No. The app works fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for iCloud sync.
Scoring
Section titled “Scoring”Can I change the score increment mid-game?
Section titled “Can I change the score increment mid-game?”No. The increment is set when you create the game. Use the calculator for one-off adjustments of different amounts.
Does the calculator follow order of operations?
Section titled “Does the calculator follow order of operations?”Yes. Multiplication and division are evaluated before addition and subtraction. Learn more.
What’s the maximum score?
Section titled “What’s the maximum score?”Scores are clamped to ±999,999. See all system limits.
Can I switch scoring mode mid-game?
Section titled “Can I switch scoring mode mid-game?”No. The scoring mode (Highest Wins, Lowest Wins, Win/Draw/Lose, Point Exchange) is set at game creation.
Can I undo a score?
Section titled “Can I undo a score?”Yes. The calculator has 50 levels of undo history. Tap the undo button to reverse recent scoring actions.
Does it support decimal scores?
Section titled “Does it support decimal scores?”Yes. The calculator supports decimal input for fractional scores.
Game Setup

What happens if the app closes during a timed game?
Section titled “What happens if the app closes during a timed game?”The timer state is saved to the database, so it survives app restarts. When you reopen the app, the timer continues from where it was.
Can I reopen a finished game?
Section titled “Can I reopen a finished game?”Yes. Open the game menu and choose to reopen. Scoring resumes from where you left off. Learn more.
How do categories work?
Section titled “How do categories work?”Categories let you track scores across multiple dimensions (e.g., trivia topics). Each player gets a score per category, and the total is the sum across all categories.
What are Game Nights?
Section titled “What are Game Nights?”Game Nights group multiple games into a session with a fixed participant list. The app tracks wins across games to determine an overall winner.
What are the end condition options?
Section titled “What are the end condition options?”Seven options: Open-ended, Target Score, Total Scored, Timed Game, Timed Round, Target Score Per Round, and Total Scored Per Round. Learn more.
Players & Teams
Section titled “Players & Teams”How many players can a game have?
Section titled “How many players can a game have?”No hard upper limit. The interface handles any number, though the AirPlay display shows up to 12 in full view (top 11 + “+N” for larger groups).
Do personas sync across devices?
Section titled “Do personas sync across devices?”Yes. Personas sync via iCloud automatically, including avatars, colors, and game statistics.
Why do I see duplicate personas?
Section titled “Why do I see duplicate personas?”This can happen when the same persona is created on multiple devices before syncing. The app automatically merges duplicates — give it a moment to sync.
Can I organize players into groups?
Section titled “Can I organize players into groups?”Yes. Persona groups let you organize players into named collections (e.g., “Family”, “Poker Crew”) for quick game setup.
How does team scoring work?
Section titled “How does team scoring work?”Teams can be scored as a whole (one score per team) or by individual members (team total = sum of member scores).
Sync & Data
Section titled “Sync & Data”What syncs via iCloud?

How do I export my game data?
Section titled “How do I export my game data?”Open the game menu and choose Export. Available formats: CSV (for spreadsheets) and JSON (for programmatic use).
Can I delete my data?
Section titled “Can I delete my data?”Yes. Delete individual games by swiping left, or select multiple games for bulk deletion. Personas can be deleted from the Persona Library.
Can I disable iCloud sync?
Section titled “Can I disable iCloud sync?”Yes. Go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud and toggle off Keeping Score! Learn more.
Can I import data into the app?
Section titled “Can I import data into the app?”No. Export is one-way, designed for analysis and record-keeping.
Widgets & Siri

Does Keeping Score! support Live Activities?

Why isn’t my widget updating?
Section titled “Why isn’t my widget updating?”Widgets refresh on a system-managed schedule. Open the app to trigger a refresh, or remove and re-add the widget. See troubleshooting.
Accessibility

Does it support Dynamic Type?

Does it respect Reduce Motion?

Is information conveyed by color alone?
Section titled “Is information conveyed by color alone?”No. All states use shape, border, opacity, or text indicators in addition to color, making the app usable with any type of color blindness. Learn more.
